You all know him as Dar Kyram. I know him by a different name, and many other nicknames. He's been my best friend for going on 7 years now. Seven years ago, I was a shell of a man. Always hiding in my apartment, only coming out at night, avoiding people the best I can.

One day, by happen-stance and other drama, I meet this little guy...short, beefy, and definatly outgoing. I hated him.

But, when I got to know him, he was cool younger dude. So, I started to become his friend. And over the last seven years, he has pulled me out of that shell, and shown me the world. I got married (Thought it ended badly) and my became a far more sociable person than I am now.

About nine months ago, during one our many fights, he decided he was going to join the military. I have to admit, not a decision I was pleased with. But...I support him, as I do all my friends.

Well, he's leaving for Basic in less than nine days, and I'm very sad to see him go. Things will definatly not be the same around here without him. But, I understand his reasons.

And I just wanted to come on here, and let all of you know what an wonderful person he is, and was a great friend he is.

Seriously, if you all don't at least tell him bye before he leaves....you're assholes. j/k


But, seriously show the guy some love and wish him luck. And ladies, if you're not trying hook up with this guy...you're missing out, believe that.

I really don't know what to say other than thank you, bro. That post means a lot and I really hope the next week and weekend we can have a blast before I leave because its down to the wire and I wanna take some good memories with me for the road ahead.

I'm gonna pop in here to say that the extent of mandoboard.com has become so awesome that we've managed to send an ambassador directly into the armed forces of America to learn the trade and make us look good.

This is a huge pat in the back to Dar Kyram for choosing that path and we hope he finds his calling in the months to come. If not, kick some ass. Stay strong, and may you be an awesome Mando for decades and decades and decades.

Being the wife of a former Marine and the sister-in-law of an Army MP, I am very proud of you for making this decision. I've often told my brother-in-law that I'm a huge whimp when it comes to guns and war, and I'm glad that there are men and women of honor and action out there who protect people like me. My family thanks you for your dedication to maintain our freedom, and I am glad to have met you through the Mando Board.

By the way, do you mind divulging which branch you have decided to take service into? Not that it matters, but at least I can nod my head to your flag whenever I see it waving proudly in the breeze.

Dar, your the coolest Mando'ade man I have ever come across, and now that I see you're joining the US military, you are now rated higher then Bacon (Its a good thing really!) I really wish I could join you in donning the uniform, but with my current education ( proof of said education being nonexistent. some times I hate home schooling.) I cannot. So as Daennika has already stated; Kick some ass! ( and could you kick it twice for me?)

Thank you everyone for all your considerate thoughts and replies. They all mean a lot and I take them all to heart.

And to answer your question, Mara, I'm in the Army. I'll be going to Ft. Jackson for basic training, then off to Ft. Leonard Wood for AIT. After that its were Uncle Sam says for me to go.

And I'm gonna be simply a truck driver. Nothing really over the top or amazing.

But I do really appreciate all your thoughts and comments. I really do.

October really crept up on us, geez!

Well, I was putting off posting in here but I suppose I should do so before you aren't able to read it. I'm the kind of person who hates goodbyes, since I never know what to say. Hence the hesitation.

However, I'm not going to say goodbye. I'm going to say good luck, farewell, and that I hope to see you back around sometime! I'm sure you'll do great things with the life you've chosen for yourself, Dar, and I'm glad to have met you, even if we didn't really talk in depth very often.

Wow Dar, good luck in the military. Thank you for having the guts to join up. I myself have considered, but just don't think I could cut it physically.

I know I haven't really talked to you extensively, but I feel like there is a sense of camaraderie on this site. Truck driving is not simple at all, and as Ms.MaraJade said, it is important. Not to mention it can be safer.

Can't wait to hear some stories sometime! Make sure to keep us updated if you can!
